Why Diets Fail Every Time

A lot of people still believe the myth that drastically reducing your food intake  will help with weight loss . In the real world when we restrict our food intake we run the risk of actually gaining weight. The human body is designed to view less food intake with starvation. When we intentionally deprive our bodies of food we trigger our body’s starvation preservation mode.

All the weight loss studies show that normal weight and healthy people usually eat foods that consist of lots of complex carbohydrates (such as vegetables, wholegrains etc) and individuals who are overweight consume diets that are high in fat. We need to fully understand how our bodies work in order to create a successful weight loss program. One of the best ways to lose weight is to observe a low GI diet where you closely monitor the amount of simple carbs you take in in a day, but are not too concerned about the other foods. You should however make sure you don’t overeat, by carefully managiing your portion sizes, and ensuring you get a good proportion of  healthy nutritious foods  which should also be low in saturated fats.

Lifestyle and eating habits contribute greatly to gaining weight and our weight increase didn’t happen over night but rather over a period of months or even years. As the weight gain didn’t happen overnight, it’s likely to take some time to get back to your healthy weight as well. People who don’t understand the balance between watching what you eat, drinking lots of water, exercising and getting plenty of sleep are easy pickings to the marketing companies pushing the current fad diet, diet pill or quick weight loss tips. You can find these fad diets, pills and programs in every media including TV, radio, magazines, books, and the Internet. Because most individuals today have been programmed to want everything now, it’s very easy to believe that there indeed magic weight loss pills to take the weight off very quickly, than to conceive that we have the ability to re-structure our lives and live healthier longer lives where obesity is behind us in the past.

 Most diets fail  because they do not promote a balance within your body. Diets simply don’t work because some are designed around making the promoter or some company money instead of making a weight loss product or program that will actually assist an individual to lose weight.

It is a known fact that individuals who are obese are more likely to succumb to illnesses and other life shortening health conditions owing to being overweight. Too much fat in your diet is one of the major reasons for unnecessary body fat.

For too many years people have been instructed that they need to drastically reduce their food intake or watch every last calorie in the hope that they will lose weight. Believe it or not our bodies are very proficient when it has to manage weight assuming that we give our bodies what they need to stay healthy – like making sure you get plenty of rest, drink enough water,  good and nutritious foods , and daily physical activity.

Losing weight is not all about watching what you eat, you also need to avoid eating in excess. Proper portions of nutritious foods are one key to losing weight. Another key to losing weight is not leading a sedentary life but one that involves giving your body the daily physical activity that it craves. Our bodies were made to move!
