My Biceps and Shoulder Muscles are Noticably Bigger
Well, it’s been 8 weeks since I’ve started on my weightloss and fitness journey.
I’ve lost 6 kilos and my biceps and shoulder muscles are noticably bigger. So, I’m counting that as an 8 kilo weight loss. Which I’m not happy with.
I’ve had a few late-night binges….. at different times, biscuits, icecream and cheese sandwiches. I’m also doing mostly the ‘easy’ exercises. Using barbell and dumbbells to work my arms and shoulders.
Haven’t been doing a lot with my stomach, back or leg muscles. (oh, just so you know, this isn’t a pic of MY gut)
I think what I should have done at the beginning, is to measure my stomach, legs and arms, as well as my weight. In fact, today I will measure all those and keep them in a weekly diary.
Something I’ve noticed with my arms and shoulders….. as I can see some difference in my muscles, it gives me incentive to do more. I have a barbell with forty kilos on it and I use that for bicep curls and presses. At first, I was struggling to do 4 bicep curls. Now, I can do 10 easily.Instead of adding more weight, because I don’t have any more, I just do the curls slower and slower. This method feels great and I believe it is helping to build my muscles just as well as if I used more weight.
Something else I’ve started doing is step-ups, using a bench that is at about knee height. I do 10, starting with each leg and it gets my heart pumping harder and faster than 20 minutes on the treadmill. Either it’s a great exercise or I’m still not very fit. Time will tell.
