How To Lose Weight While Working – Use A Treadmill Desk

You have heard of “whistle while you work” but what about “walk while you work”?

Most people sit down at their desk, whether at their home or in the workplace, and then when they are done working, they are too tired to work out.

Sound familiar? What if there was a way to combine the time you spend at work and a work-out?

You can install a treadmill desk instead of your real desk. A treadmill desk combines a treadmill with a platform to hold your computer and monitor. You don’t have to run, or even walk fast, to receive the benefits of working out. You simply just keep moving.

A primary benefit of using a treadmill desk is the ability to burn calories while you are working at your desk during your normal workday. Walking at your treadmill desk at just 1/mph has the ability to burn one hundred calories each hour that you walk. When you consider the amount of hours that you could be walking on your treadmill during your workday, that can add up to hundreds and hundreds of calories a day.

Along with the extra calories that you will be burning, you should make sure that you are eating a healthy and well balanced diet. Just because you are burning hundreds of calories a day with your treadmill desk does not mean that you can eat an unhealthy and high calorie diet. If you want to lose weight, you will have to do both eat right and exercise. Of course, with more exercise, your calorie limits will increase. Consult with your doctor to determine the appropriate amount of calories that you should be eating to successfully lose weight in the healthiest possible way.

If you find that your weight loss has stalled even though you are burning hundreds of calories with your treadmill desk by increasing the incline of the treadmill or you can add ankle weights. This will require your body to work harder to walk the one mile per hour pace. It is not recommended that you increase the speed of your treadmill while you are trying to work. You will find that it is just too difficult to effectively work while moving at a faster pace.

Having said that, you will find yourself gradually increasing the speed as your coordination and rhythm improves :)

The hours spent at work can be used to help you lose weight and get the exercise that your body needs to function properly. You will increase your metabolism and feel better after just a short time period using a treadmill desk.
